Before suggesting any changes within an organisation I like to first understand the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of current performance by understanding the purpose of an organisation, the nature and type of demand it receives from its customers and how well it achieves its stated purpose. By addressing the causes of ‘failure demand’ (demand created as a result of something going wrong in the system) huge reductions in costs can be achieved alongside improvements in customer satisfaction and staff morale.
