Career Background
Initially a production engineer in precision engineering, then an MBA from Cranfield. This was then followed by 10 years with Coopers and Lybrand in Birmingham as a senior consultant specialising in manufacturing systems and inventory control. I then moved into a ‘proper job’ as the Materials Control Director of Bridgeport Machines in Leicester the largest UK machine toll manufacturer developing their manufacturing, inventory and business systems during a period of major company expansion. For the next 9 years I was the Manufacturing Manager of Strachan and Henshaw in Bristol controlling up to 450 people in welding, fabrication, machining, assembly and test producing a wide range of contracts for complex high technology equipment. For the last 10 years I have worked as an independent consultant carrying out a range of projects - performance improvement in the food and drink industry - project management in factory reconstruction and business system implementation - outsourcing.
